About

Dr. Naia Butler-Craig is a distinguished aerospace engineer and public communicator. She works at the forefront of space technology and institutional equity. Currently, she serves as an Aerospace Engineer at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Her research focuses on electric propulsion, specifically Hall-effect thrusters and hollow cathode plasma diagnostics. Because of her high-impact work, she earned a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Science. Furthermore, she received the Modern Day Technology Leader Award at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA).
She completed her PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During her doctoral studies, she excelled as a NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Fellow and a GEM Fellow. Additionally, she serves on the board of Black In Astro, which won the Royal Astronomical Society’s Annie Maunder Medal for its public engagement work. The Mars Generation also named her to their 24 Under 24 Leaders and Innovators list.
Dr. Butler-Craig successfully bridges the gap between elite technical environments and structural advocacy. Her unique journey proves that technical excellence and social advocacy can coexist perfectly. Consequently, she provides an actionable blueprint for modern leaders who want to bridge advanced theory with real-world implementation. Ultimately, she redefines legacy ecosystems to ensure the future of space exploration remains welcoming and inclusive.
